Two people were left with stab injuries following a reported assault in Brick Lane on Christmas Day.

The Met Police was called at approximately 6.30am on Monday (December 25) to reports of a man assaulted in the Bethnal Green area.

London Ambulance Service also attended and the man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment for a stab injury. His condition is not life threatening.

A woman, in her 40s, was also taken to hospital for treatment for a stab injury that is not thought to have been serious.

Police say both were injured following an altercation in Code Street, by Brick Lane at around 5.30am.

Two men – aged 39 and 42 – were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and drug offences. Both have been charged with two counts of GBH and are due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday December 27).
