Footage of the incident shows both vehicles badly damaged, with debris from the crash littering the road.

The Royal Mail van driver also appears to be shown lying on the ground, as does another person covered in foil.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service (LAS), which sent a large number of resources to the scene including six ambulance crews, two paramedics in fast response cars and two incident response officers.

A spokesperson for the LAS said: “We treated six patients at the scene. We took two of the patients to a major trauma centre and the other four to local hospitals.”

A Met Police spokesperson added the injuries are not life-threatening, and that no arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing.
