On a day packed with British eccentricity, there were plenty of unusual moments to take in.
World leaders, a Tory Government , English aristocrats and Nick Cave piled into central London, not to mention thousands of well-wishers, from the curious to the fanatical.
It’s hard to imagine what the pomp and pageantry looks to like to people from other parts of the world. Perhaps pictured the Stars and Stripes littered streets of post election America combined with a military parade of North Korea.
The weather wasn’t kind on Saturday (May 6), yet the public who had turned out on the streets (other than those protesting) were all smiles.
Here are seven weird photos from a very British party.

Nick Cave and Rowan Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury. The Australian singer said this week he is neither a monarchist nor an ardent republican, but that he could not turn down an invitation to an important moment in UK history: “Not just the most important, but the strangest, the weirdest.” (Photo by Jane Barlow - WPA Pool/Getty Images)
