The two children were taken to hospital for treatment. Neither is in a life-threatening condition.

A police spokesperson said that the parents of both children are now with them in hospital.

The force added that the bus stopped at the scene after the collision and that there has been no arrest.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing,” the statement added.

After news of the crash broke last night, Hackney Council advised residents to avoid the area.

A police cordon blocked Clapton Common yesterday evening, but traffic restrictions have since been lifted.

The gender or age of the children injured is yet to be confirmed.
