Last week One Direction fans across the globe were left devastated following the untimely death of singer Liam Payne.

Liam was just 31 when he fell from the balcony of a hotel in Buenos Ares. Fans flocked to Hyde Park in London on Sunday afternoon to pay their respects to the singer.

In the wake of his passing, Londoners have been reminiscing about the celebrity deaths that broke their hearts.

One Londoner recalls the moment she found out Victoria Wood had died she described it as a “real gut punch”.

Last year of course much of the telly-watching world was left heartbroken following the death of Matthew Perry, best known for playing Chandler Bing in Friends.

I will always remember the day Alan Rickman died, I was in sixth form at the time and was a big Harry Potter fan, I was devastated.

Another one that left me heartbroken was Meat Loaf, he was my mum’s favourite singer and he died pretty soon after she did, it felt very significant.
