A central London Christmas lights switch-on event has been postponed amid severe weather warnings for Storm Ciarán.

The Carnaby Street event was due to take place on Thursday (November 2) but is now postponed until Wednesday November 8.

Yellow weather warnings are in place in London for wind and rain.

Next Wednesday, from 4pm to 8pm, the Soho shopping district - near Oxford Street and Regent Street - will be holding a “shopping and dining party”.

More than 100 brands, restaurants and bars will offer discounts including 20% off, activations and promotions, and live music and entertainment will be laid on.

Fashion and lifestyle brands participating include Size?, Ganni, Rixo, Dickie’s, OG Kicks, New Era, Levi’s, Ray-Ban, The North Face, Diesel, Monki and Lazy Oaf.

Complimentary cocktails will be available from a pop-up bar on Foubert’s Place and an on-street photo booth will be available on Ganton Street.
