Storm Ciarán: Carnaby Street Christmas lights switch on postponed in Soho near Oxford Street

A central London Christmas lights switch-on event has been postponed amid severe weather warnings for Storm Ciarán.

The Carnaby Street event was due to take place on Thursday (November 2) but is now postponed until Wednesday November 8.

Yellow weather warnings are in place in London for wind and rain.

Next Wednesday, from 4pm to 8pm, the Soho shopping district - near Oxford Street and Regent Street - will be holding a “shopping and dining party”.

More than 100 brands, restaurants and bars will offer discounts including 20% off, activations and promotions, and live music and entertainment will be laid on.

Fashion and lifestyle brands participating include Size?, Ganni, Rixo, Dickie’s, OG Kicks, New Era, Levi’s, Ray-Ban, The North Face, Diesel, Monki and Lazy Oaf.

Complimentary cocktails will be available from a pop-up bar on Foubert’s Place and an on-street photo booth will be available on Ganton Street.

Carnaby Street’s restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs will have a range of promotions, including at Kingly Court, home to Shoryu, Disrepute, Nightjar, The Life Goddess, Bar Kroketa, Paradiso and Dehesa.

Other food and drink spots include Ino, Ain’t Nothin’ But, Island Poké, Kaleido Rolls, Soho Grind, The White Horse and Ugly Dumpling.

The Carnaby Christmas shopping and dining party is free but visitors can register online for their ticket to the event. Shoppers can present the downloadable ticket to receive offers in participating stores.

The district has Choose Love as its charity partner for a fourth year.

Choose Love will have a shop at 57 Carnaby Street which will launch on November 2 with its new Choose Love Boutique, selling donated fashion pieces from celebrities including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Liam Gallagher, Paloma Faith, Michelle Dockery, Nicola Coughlan and India Ria Amarteifio.
