A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said it assessed more than 20 people, before taking six adults and two children to hospital.

Eight people have been rushed to hospital after a carbon monoxide leak in central London earlier today.

A London Ambulance Service (LAS) spokesperson said it assessed more than 20 people at the leak in Tavistock Place, Bloomsbury, after being called at 6.16am, before taking six adults and two children to hospital.

The London Fire Brigade was at the scene, with a spokesperson saying the incident was under control by 8.28am.

The LAS spokesperson said: “We were called today (April 19) at 6.16am to reports of a carbon monoxide leak on Tavistock Place, WC1.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including four ambulance crews, an incident response officer, and members of our hazardous area response team (HART).

“We assessed over 20 people at the scene before taking six adults and two children to hospital.”

The cause of the leak remains under investigation.
