Canary Wharf police car chase: Driver and rider rushed to hospital after ‘serious’ A13 collision

Police tried to call over a car on the A13 earlier today (Tuesday, April 12) which failed to stop and saw officers following in pursuit.

A motorcyclist and driver have been rushed to hospital in a “serious incident” after a collision following a police car chase.

The car later collided with a motorcycle on Aspen Way, E14 during the car chase.

Both the driver and rider were taken to hospital.

Heavy standstill traffic was reported on the A13 near Canary Wharf, heading towards the Limehouse Link.

A social media user shared with Instagram page @IG1_IG2, saying: “Serious incident on A13 near Canary Wharf heading towards the Limehouse Link (possible police chase).

“Heavy standstill traffic.”

They added: “And now an accident on the other side so traffic going both ways.”

A police spokesperson said: “At around 12.17pm on Tuesday, April 12, police on the A13 requested a vehicle to stop.

“The car failed to do so and a pursuit was authorised.

“The car later collided with a motorcycle on Aspen Way, E14.

“The driver left the vehicle but was arrested by officers and taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The motorcyclist was taken to hospital; his injuries are not life changing or life threatening.”
