Pet owners admit that superficial traits such as age and appearance often take precedence over temperament and compatibility.

Battersea is one of the UK’s leading rehoming centres for cats and dogs, and it is responsible for rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming thousands of pets each year. However, there are a few sweet felines still looking for their forever homes. Among those is Daphne, who has been in the care of Battersea London for 205 days.

Delightful Daphne is a charming older lady who is patiently waiting to find her fated forever home. The eight-year-old feline loves to be kept busy with plenty of playtime with string toys and cheek rubs, followed by curling up in a cosy spot or on her favourite people’s laps for a well-earned snooze.

After almost seven months in Battersea’s care, she is hoping a match that’s written in the stars will come along soon. Find out more about Destiny by clicking here.

Bridie Williams, Rehoming and Welfare Manager from Battersea, comments: “We urge any potential owners looking to welcome a cat into their lives to consider their local rescue centre where you will be expertly matched with a cat that matches your lifestyle and personality.

“Here at Battersea, we have a wide range of cats to suit different lifestyles, from older cats looking for a cosy retirement home to fun-loving felines looking for a human companion to play with. Like many rescues across the UK, we are currently seeing a huge number of cats in need of help, with our centres caring for the highest number of cats in the last five years.

“There’s a number of factors contributing to this, from seeing large numbers of unneutered cats and unwanted litters to owners experiencing changes in their circumstances and making the responsible decision to bring them to a rescue centre like Battersea.

“All of these lovely cats coming to Battersea and other rescues deserve a second chance, and that’s why we’d urge anyone looking to get a new pet to join us in celebrating Mars’ Global Adoption Weekend and choose a rescue.”
