Barking Road closed after crash between London bus and Toyota Prius in Canning Town

A Toyota Prius and a bus have smashed into each other - with one injured person being sent to hospital.

The accident has caused Barking Road, in Canning Town, Newham, to have been closed - and drivers are advised to avoid the area.

Emergency services were called to the incident, near the junction with Hermit Road, at 2.10pm.

A bus and a car had crashed into each other, with footage showing the black Prius’ crumpled bonnet.

Photos showed paramedics treating an injured person, however Scotland Yard said “their condition is not life threatening”.

The London Ambulance Service said three people were treated, with one person sent to hospital “as a priority”.

A spokesperson said: “We sent an ambulance, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and a paramedic in response car to the scene.

“We treated three people at the scene, and took one to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

The Met said “enquiries into the circumstances continue”.
