Asda Express: Asda set to launch new standalone convenience store in Tottenham

Tottenham has been selected as one of two locations that supermarket chain Asda will be trialling its Asda Express standalone stores. Sutton Coldfield in the Midlands was chosen as the second site for the convenience store style franchise.

The new store, opening in Tottenham Hale on December 6 2022, is expected to bring 37 new jobs to the area as Asda looks to expand into more communities around the UK. Should the two stores prove to be a success, Asda plans to launch 30 more stores throughout 2023, creating an additional 500 jobs.

Asda  explained that unlike larger stores, Asda Express will be “purpose built and situated in residential areas giving customers the opportunity to shop in convenient neighbourhood locations”. The retailer said: “Each store will stock around 3,000 products, including a comprehensive range of fresh, ambient and chilled groceries, as well as products from Asda’s premium Extra Special range and a broad selection of beers, wines and spirits.

“Customers will also enjoy a range of hot and cold food for now options from Asda and partner brands including Leon, plus ‘food for later’ choices such as ready meals and a selection of £10 meal deals for two people. Both stores will also offer toyou parcel collection and return services and shortly after opening will offer a rapid delivery service through Uber Eats.”

The Asda Express stores are separate from the Asda On the Move convenience sites, which are located on garage forecourts owned and operated by EG Group, and  the 132 convenience stores that Asda is acquiring from the Co-op Group which is expected to be completed shortly before going through a review process.
