A Christmas singalong of the Pogues' classic was led in a north London street by comedians Aisling Bea and Nish Kumar, playing Santa once again.

The annual Aisling Bea & Friends Foodbank Donation Drive was hosted at The Bill Murray comedy pub on Wednesday afternoon (December 20), collecting donations of food and household goods for Hackney Foodbank and The Trussell Trust.

Celebrities joining the festive event included Rosie Jones, Suzi Ruffell, Iain Sterling, Laura whitemore and Susan Wokoma.

Aisling and Nish led the singalong of the famous Christmas song written by Shane MacGown, who died last month.

An evening fundraising show at Earth, in Hackney, featured the pair again, along with Sara Pascoe, Rob Delaney, and MC Barry Ferns.

Barry, who is also a founder of Angel Comedy, which runs the Bill Murray, said: "Last year, 1.3 metric tons of food were donated - 1.3 metric tons of food. I actually like to use the word a 'sh*t-ton' of food, but that's the technical term.

"This year, we've got that to reach. I'm quite positive we might exceed that. We also raised just under £3,000 and we've already this year raised £26,000, and counting, for Hackney Foodbank and The Trussell Trust."

He added: "It's a lovely event because celebrities mingle with people who have come down.

"The celebrities attract people to come here and then they can donate food, and money as well. It's a really lovely event to be part of."

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of more than 1,300 food banks. Visit its website to find out more and to donate.
