The Roaring Twenties was a dynamic period marked by significant social, cultural, and economic changes.
London, like much of the world, was recovering from the trauma of World War I. Many people sought to put the war behind them, embracing new technologies, entertainment, and ideas.
The war had accelerated women's participation in the workforce, and although many were pushed back into domestic roles, the 1920s saw greater independence for women.
Jazz music, dancing, and nightclubs became immensely popular, with venues like the Café de Paris drawing lively crowds.
London's West End thrived, showcasing both British and American productions. The silent film era gave way to "talkies" toward the end of the decade.
These black and white photos show dinner preparations at the Savoy hotel, and postmen delivering gifts and cards.
There’s even a photo of the Christmas Day babies in 1926!
