The White Rose on Saturday, February 24, is heading for York for the day. Setting out from Kings Cross and picking up at Stevenage, this day out combines the thrills of steam travel with all the attractions of this walled city famed for its Minster, cobbled medieval shopping street The Shambles, River Ouse setting and great museums, including the National Railway Museum.

Heading North West on Saturday, March 2, The Cheshireman gives you the opportunity to visit another ancient walled city. Chester’s Roman amphitheatre, cathedral, castle and 14th Century ‘Rows’ lined with small shops and cafes, make for a fascinating day.

Whitby Flyer

New for the 2024 Easter holidays, The Whitby Flyer on Wednesday, March 27, will whisk you up to York where your train will be joined by an historic steam locomotive for a scenic journey skirting the North York Moors and along the Esk Valley into the atmospheric harbour town of Whitby.
