In the early years of the Georgian era when George I was on the throne London was starting to take shape as the big city we know today.
In fact during his 13 year reign which ended in 1727 following his death, London welcomed a total of two general hospitals.
The first was Westminster hospital in 1719 with the second founded just two years later in 1721.
