Hide AdWith the success of Top Gun: Maverick acting as the post-covid kickstart that silver screens across the world needed, National Cinema Day looks to help recapture the once popular pastime of family and friends venturing to the cinema to see the latest blockbuster title.
Or in some cases some of the finest drama and art-house cinema that the world has to offer, all from the comfort of a cinema seat, surround sound and most importantly a group of likeminded cinemagoers.
Londonworld is here to explain what National Cinema Day is all about, how to claim those cheaper tickets and where in London will be participating in the event.
What is National Cinema Day?

National Cinema Day is a celebration of the silver screen and one of the world’s most popular past-times, offering for a discounted rate the sites, sounds and big screen immersion that only a cinema can offer.

Hide AdWith tickets selling for as little as £3, a number of cinemas will be showing a mixture of recently released films, such as the new Idris Elba thriller Beast, alongside old favourites that may have not been screened on the big screen in many years.
One of which includes cinema legend Steven Spielberg’s iconic E.T: The Extra Terrestrial, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary and will see a special IMAX re-release.
The cheaper tickets is also a means to encourage groups to once again venture to the cinema, with movies ranging from family friendly affairs to the more cutting-edge works past and present for mature audiences.
How do I get cheap tickets for National Cinema Day?
It is as easy as going to your local participating cinema on September 3 2022 and buying a ticket for one of the movies that is screening as part of the event. If you want to plan ahead, you can also purchase tickets online for September 3 and see the range of movies on offer at your participating cinema on National Cinema Day.
