The 2024 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland has praised two London restaurants for their excellent dishes at value prices. The capital-based eateries were just some of the spots around the country to be awarded a Bib Gourmand by the culinary guide.

While Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand award is not a star which highlights particular spots' high standards, it instead recognises eateries serving good food at moderate prices.

Its name references the comany's mascot, with Bib named for the Michelin character Bibendum.

In total, 20 food spots across the UK were newly honoured with the accolade.

The Crouch End French bistro-style spot Les 2 Garçons was highlighted by the culinary guide for bringing its classic French onion soup and steak frites to London locals.

It is not the first time Les 2 Garçons has been honoured for its low-key charm. In July, the eatery was featured in the Good Food Guide's ranking. It also has a 4.5 on Tripadvisor, with many having gushed over it's "cosy" and "wholesome" atmosphere.

Empire Empire in Notting Hill was recognised by Michelin for its flavoursome fare. The guide described the spot as having "interesting dishes with a real freshness and vitality".

Notting Hill's Empire Empire's opening caused a buzz in the London food scene with its disco theme. On its website, the restaurant describes itself as a "celebration of food, art and music in Notting Hill".

Gwendal Poullennec, international director of The Michelin Guide, said: “It is a joy to see 20 restaurants newly awarded the Bib Gourmand in the 2024 edition of The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland. These are establishments that deserve recognition for their continued commitment to offering affordable, delicious cooking. The generosity and value for money they offer is wonderful to see during these challenging economic times for the restaurant industry.”

The Michelin website previously listed 34 restaurants with a Bib Gourmand.
