'I visited the J Wellness Circle Spa at Taj Hotels to beat the January blues'

Winter is the cruellest of seasons - so they say - so it's essential to prioritise self care during the colder months. 

And what better way to fight off the January blues than treating yourself to a spa visit?

For those in need of a little relaxation and self care, head to J Wellness Spa, the newly rebranded spa at St James’ Court. The hotel is part of the Taj Hotel group – which owns more than 100 hotels worldwide.

On a rainy and windy January evening, my friend and I were delighted to enjoy some much needed pamper time at the five star facility.

J Wellness Spa, is a fitting name as it truly offers a retreat from city life, with impressive spa facilities that include treatment rooms, a steam room and sauna, a vitality pool and a relaxation area.

Discreetly tucked away in stunning St James’s court the luxury spa offers a unique fusion of Indian wellness philosophy and luxury British innovation

The spa, which is open to both hotel guests and the public, offers a range of treatments derived from ancient Indian wisdom, culture and royalty.

These include Indian aromatherapy, detox treatments, massages, facials and body scrubs which can last between 45 minutes (Indian head massage) to over three hours (full body scrub and wrap plus an hour facial).

As we were looking to just relax and  enjoy the spa experience together my friend and I just opted for an evening in the wet spa facilities as opposed to getting treatments.

From the minute we were warmly greeted at reception and were offered our white robes and towels we instantly surrendered to the experience. The dim lighting and soothing aroma also added to the relaxing atmosphere.

The vitality pool is heated and has built-in underwater benches and massage jets. Perfect for an evening of chilling and catching up with a good friend.

The sauna surfaces are created from solid sections of thermally treated Alder wood which infuse the air with the smell of timber. 

Unfortunately the steam room was out of service while we were there but we still felt thoroughly relaxed and rejuvenated after our experience.

Next time we will definitely try one of the treatments.
