L&Q provides homeownership opportunities for tenants and buyers in Barnet

First-time buyers are finding the London Borough of Barnet increasingly unaffordable. Data from the UK House Price Index has found that the average price of a first-time buyer home in the area currently stands at £480,000*.

Meeting the call for affordable housing opportunities, L&Q at Brent Cross Town is a collection of Shared Ownership and London Living Rent (LLR) homes in this north London hotspot. Priority was initially given to local people, living or working within the London Borough of Barnet. However, homes at this in-demand development are now open to applications from all customers.

Shared Ownership is a government-backed scheme that helps people buy a share of their new home and pay rent on the remaining portion. As a Shared Owner’s financial situation improves, they can buy a larger share in their home until they own it outright. London Living Rent has been designed as a stepping-stone to homeownership, enabling eligible customers to rent a home at a discounted rate whilst putting savings aside towards a deposit. Giving tenants flexibility, it is possible to go on to buy the home in which you already live, through Shared Ownership or, alternatively, a different property on the open market.
