The Great British Bake Off: London’s favourite cake revealed including vegan cake

The Great British Bake Off back on our screens  and a study has revealed which cakes Londoners love the most - and it may surprise a lot of people.

Cakes are one of the most sought after delicacies in the UK, with events such as afternoon tea making cakes, pastries, buns and other sweet treats the centre of attention.

And now, a study and map has been produced by Cutter & Squidge, revealing each region’s most liked cakes.

The online company asked over 1,000 cake lovers for their top three choices and analysed buying habits to collect their data.

One of the most beloved cakes in the UK, a victoria sponge, is the most favourite in the North West, with a standard Chocolate cake proving popular in East Anglia but what tops the list for Londoners?

What cakes do Londoners love the most?

Being one of the trendiest and progessive cities in the UK, it’s not surprising that Londoners have a slightly left field trend when purchasing cakes.

According to Cutter & Squidge, “In London and the South East vegan cakes are proving increasingly popular and Londoners often like to buy a selection of smaller cakes to share with friends or work colleagues”

They continue to say: “Coffee flavoured cakes, along with salted caramel figure in the top choices of those in the West Midlands, London and the South West.”
