Nestled in the heart of London’s legal district, a stone’s throw away from the Royal Courts of Justice and Lincoln’s Inn Fields, The Last Judgment is the perfect spot to celebrate a legal win (or to drown your sorrows!).

Under new ownership Berkeley Inns, the pub reopened as The Last Judgment on May 15, with a plush new makeover and upscale menu.

Retaining all the grandeur of its historic past, the bar features high ceilings, adorned with intricate architectural details, ornate decorations, while upstairs the mezzanine has plenty of cosy little corners with bookshelves and paintings for more intimate meetings.

The pub has replaced its old Wetherspoons menu with a plush new ‘Steak and Sole’ offering, with owners saying it is opting for quality over quantity.

For our meal my friend and I enjoyed a three course meal and a bottle of red wine.

For starters I opted for the classic bruschetta with green tomatoes, wild rocket and balsamic glaze, while my friend had another pub classic, the prawn cocktail.

For our main course there was no question when it came between steak and sole- steak all the way!

We shared the 16 ounce 28-day dry aged Côte de Boeuf, with fries, garlic and roquefort mushrooms and tenderstem broccoli with marmite butter on the side.

The steak was perfectly cooked and was perfectly paired with the red wine. A real Friday night treat.

To finish our meal we had the chocolate brownie sundae and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Delectable!

The menu is limited at the Last Judgment but there is more than enough choice for diners to enjoy a classic pub meal.

The service was quick and efficient and our waiter was very attentive and committed to ensuring we had a good evening.

The Last Judgment is the perfect spot for a quick pint after work or for an evening meal.

We drank:  Bottle of 3610JB Merlot: £22

We ate: Starters: Prawn Cocktail £8, Bruschetta £6.50
