Prezzo targets cost of living with UK-first deal to help families

For many parents, eating out has become a luxury, and as food and bills continue to stretch family budgets, casual dining chains are positioning themselves as partners in financial survival.

Prezzo Italian has recently announced what it calls the UK’s first family dining subscription, allowing up to three children to eat a free three-course meal every time an adult orders a full-priced main.

Priced at £1.99 per month or £19.99 per year, the scheme launches as families enter the half-term juggle, a period that often exposes the gap between children’s time off and parents’ disposable income.

Prezzo CEO James Brown said: “As a dad of two, I understand how valuable it is to have somewhere reliable to go where kids are looked after, have fun and eat well, while parents can get a break.”

Based on weekly visits, Prezzo claims families could save nearly £1,500 a year, a figure that speaks directly to a Britain where wage growth has struggled to keep pace with rising costs.

Prezzo is a UK casual dining restaurant chain founded in 2000, specialising in Italian-inspired dishes including pizza, pasta, calzone and salads, with around 95 restaurants nationwide.

For “less than the cost of a coffee”, families can access unlimited dine-in visits, capped at once per day, with children aged two to 12 receiving a three-course meal when an adult buys a full-priced main.

From streaming platforms to meal kits, modern life is increasingly organised around monthly payments, so turning family dining into a subscription may feel like an inevitable next step.

Brown added: “This isn’t just a half-term deal or a one-off promotion, it’s real, everyday value that parents can rely on, especially when budgets are stretched.”

Yet beneath the marketing lies a wider question about the role of corporate actors in responding to economic strain.

As government support fluctuates and household debt remains high, businesses are increasingly framing themselves as providers of stability.

In a cost-of-living crisis where even small leisures can feel like a luxury, that promise may resonate as much politically as it does commercially.

Brown explained: “This is the first subscription of its kind in the UK, and we believe it’s the best value family dining offer out there.”

Prezzo also says its menus are built around providing healthier options, like their pastas packed with hidden veg, so parents can feel confident their kids are eating healthily while still enjoying their favourites for free.

The Kids Eat Free subscription is available now via the Club Prezzo app, where parents can sign up in minutes and activate the offer immediately.
