The opening comes four years after the collapse of the chef’s UK restaurant branch saw the closure of the Jamie’s Italian chain, as well as the Barbecoa and Fifteen brands.

Jamie Oliver is set to open a new landmark restaurant in London’s Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in November.

Jamie Oliver Catherine Street promises to “celebrate Britain’s rich and diverse food culture” with a seasonal menu that “champions the best of British produce.”

Writing on Instagram the chef and author wrote: “I am SO happy to announce my return to the UK restaurant industry that I love so dearly with my new place Jamie Oliver Catherine Street.

"My hope is that Catherine Street will be a wonderfully welcoming, happy place to dine, with great service, and delicious food at its heart. To say I’m excited is an understatement! Hope to see you at Catherine Street later this year."

The opening comes four years after the collapse of the chef’s UK restaurant arm saw the closure of the Jamie’s Italian chain, as well as the Barbecoa and Fifteen brands.

Suppliers are to include Flourish Produce, Westcombe Dairy, Cobble Lane Cured, and Hill Street Chocolate, as well as Wild Card Brewery, an award-winning outfit based in Walthamstow.

Oliver has named Chris Shail, who worked alongside the broadcaster and author for eight years, as head chef, while Emma Jackson, formerly of Soho Farmhouse and Petersham Nurseries, is to lead on pastry.

In a previous press statement, Oliver said: “Losing my UK restaurants was without doubt one of the hardest times of my life. But being a positive part of the restaurant industry is very close to my heart.

“We learnt lessons as we grew the international restaurants -there are now more than 70 across the world -so I’m very excited to open this restaurant in London and with an exceptional team, once again, serve the public.”

The curtain is officially raised on November 28.
