Expanded walk-in Urgent Care Clinic at London hospital
The hospital’s new £35 million wing represents the single largest investment made during the private hospital’s 165-year history, and will see the current Urgent Care Clinic double in size, ensuring the best possible service for patients.
Adults and children aged one and up can use the walk-in clinic for minor injuries or illnesses, including sprains and fractures, cuts and burns, eye infections and stomach bugs.
If needed, instant referrals can be arranged for tests and scans, physiotherapy and specialist consultations – all under one roof in the comfortable private hospital of St John & St Elizabeth.
Designed for day visitors
The second floor is designed specifically for day visitors, with a layout that matches the treatment flow. As such, the welcome lobby leads to private changing rooms; and these to the treatment area, which features two spacious theatres.
After treatment, people can rest and recuperate in one of nine ensuite rooms, and when it’s time to leave, a short walkway filled with natural light leads to a comfortable lounge where it’s possible to have a cup of tea and read the paper.
The layout of the new wing has been specifically designed to ensure the best possible journey through the hospital for patients, with each next step only one door away.
Walk-in clinic
The Urgent Care Clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8am - 8pm (last appointment at 7pm), and weekends between 8am - 6pm (last appointment at 5pm). There’s no need to book in advance – simply walk in and you’ll be guaranteed prompt, tailored care.
The hospital has been recognised by Bupa as a COVID-19 Green Zone for complying with the UK guidance on COVID-19 infection control.
Located at the entrance of St John & St Elizabeth Hospital, the Urgent Care Clinic is for all the family, including children aged one and up. Initial consultations with a doctor cost £120 and a nurse’s appointment costs £65.
First consultations act like a GP referral i.e. you would have your consultation and get a diagnosis or onward treatment plan.
If you have insurance, at this point you would call your provider and would probably need to share the referral letter from the Urgent Care Clinic. They would provide a treatment authorisation code, which would then need to be shown to hospital staff when booking the next stage of treatment. Depending on the type or level of insurance people have, most or all of their onward treatment costs would be covered. If you need any diagnostic scans (such as MRIs, ultrasound, CT etc.) you would need to double-check your insurance covers this. Always double check with your policy provider before booking any scans, tests or treatment.
You can ask your GP for a referral to St John & St Elizabeth Hospital. If you don’t have one, or are struggling to contact them, the hospital has its own private GP Clinic.
