YouTuber surprises Croydon students with new footwear for winter

YouTube sensation Miniminter has ensured that children at a Croydon primary school have proper footwear to wear this winter.

Miniminter, who is part of KSI's group of content creators and has over 10million followers, and his charity M7Education partnered with the GLF Schools Foundation and leading sneaker retailer Kick Game to deliver an unforgettable surprise to Year 6 students at Chestnut Park Primary School and the school's rap club members.

Every student in these groups received a brand-new pair of trainers as part of this heartwarming initiative spearheaded by Miniminter, who is a longtime supporter of GLF schools through M7Education, as part of a promotional campaign with Kick Game.

Captured in a special YouTube video, the students' reactions were priceless as they unwrapped their new trainers in front of Miniminter - full name Simon Minter. The surprise sparked joy across the school and served as a reminder of the kindness that binds us as a community.

Jak Martin, Head of the GLF Schools Foundation, said: "This initiative embodies the spirit of the GLF Schools Foundation—to provide opportunities, support, and joy to our students. We are incredibly thankful to Miniminter, M7Education, and Kick Game for their generosity."

Jak added that this wasn't the first time Miniminter and M7Education have supported GLF Schools and looks forward to partnering with them in the future after this recent visit, which took place at the Croydon school just before Christmas.

"The generosity of Kick Game and Simon Minter aka Miniminter was such a wonderful end to our term," Rachel Jacob, Chestnut Park's Executive Headteacher, continued.

Sarah Rumbol, Head of School at Chestnut Park, added: "As Headteachers of the school, we would like to share our thanks and for making our children's dreams come true."

Miniminter is one of a collective of YouTubers called The Sidemen, who originally formed a decade ago, after bonding on an online platform for fans of popular video game, Grand Theft Auto.

Miniminter's journey into content creation began after he left university when tuition fees rocketed and went to work in a warehouse, before being taken on by his old school friend, KSI, real name Olajide 'JJ' Olatunji, to run his clothing line.

At the same time, he began creating his own YouTube content, primarily videos about FIFA and football more generally, while also recreating famous Vine clips. Since then he has amassed more than 10.4million subscribers.

The Sidemen is made up of KSI, Simon, Joshua Bradley, known online as Zerkaa; Tobi Brown, known online as TBJZL; Ethan Payne, known online as Behzinga; Vikram Barn, known as Vikkstar123 and Harry Lewis, known as W2S.
