Students and staff at Harris Academy St John’s Wood are celebrating after Ofsted inspectors have concluded, following a routine, ungraded inspection, that the Academy has “improved significantly” since it was last inspected and judged to be ‘Good’ in 2019.

The inspectors offered a highly complimentary report about the Academy, particularly highlighting the “high academic standards” which lead students to “flourish” and “achieve extremely well” across their subjects. The “broad” curriculum on offer, combined with the aspirational environment and “remarkable opportunities for pupils’ personal development” mean that students leave the Academy “very well prepared for higher education and employment”.

The teaching staff, described as “subject experts”, were also praised throughout the report for the care and skill with which they prepare and adapt the curriculum to ensure understanding amongst all students. Likewise, students’ behaviour was highlighted by the inspectors who described a “polite and respectful” environment inside and outside the classroom. Students are said to “enjoy their learning”, offering their teachers and each other their undivided attention in their lessons.

Samantha Green, Principal of Harris Academy St John’s Wood, said:

“This excellent report from Ofsted rightly reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, staff and wider school community. Our students were fantastic ambassadors for our Academy throughout the inspection, and it is particularly pleasing that the inspectors observed our students’ excitement to learn across all their subjects.

“Thank you to our students, staff and academy community for their continued support as we look to build on this outcome going forward.”
