Christmas has arrived early at a care home in Chingford, where local Scouts were invited to celebrate the festive season with some cheerful carol singing.

To spread some Christmas magic ahead of the big day, residents at Care UK’s Ivy Grove, on Hatch Lane, were joined by The 32nd Chingford Scout Group for an afternoon of festive fun.

Residents enjoyed listening to the Scouts collectively sing their own renditions of Christmas classics in the home’s lounge, including We Wish You a Merry Christmas — and they even joined in for a singalong.

On the day, everyone also enjoyed indulging in some festive favourites, including mince pies and hot chocolate, prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Alex Pitu.

Commenting on the Scouts’ performance, 93-year-old resident Betty Williamson said: “Having the scouts come and sing at the end of our Christmas party was a lovely surprise. They sang all my favourites, which I sang along with too. It was lovely to see the young man receive one of his badges at the end. They really did bring the Christmas joy into our home. Thank you to them all.”

Jacob Mante, General Manager at Ivy Grove, said: “Here at Ivy Grove, we are committed to playing an active role in the community, which is why we were thrilled to embrace the festive spirit with The 32nd Chingford Scout Group.

“Christmas is an important time of year for bringing people together and spreading joy, and this was a great opportunity to do both, while also having some festive fun.
