Orpington Care home raises over £1000 for homelessness charity at Christmas Fete
A care home in Orpington invited the local community to get into the festive spirit and raise money for charity ahead of Christmas.
Care UK’s Foxbridge House, on Sevenoaks Road, invited the local community along for a ‘merry’ good time, to join residents, their relatives and team members to kick start the festive season at the home’s Christmas Fete, and to help raise money for Bromley Homeless.
On the day, guests were able to take part in a host of activities, including spin the wheel, a tombola and a Christmas sing-along. Santa Claus also made a special appearance at the home’s grotto to spread some Christmas cheer. During the Christmas Fete, the home raised £528.66 for Bromely Homeless, a charity run by volunteers that offers support to homeless people, or those who are at risk of homelessness, through advice and access to free services.
Matching the teams’ efforts, Care UK donated a further £528.66 to the charity, bringing the total donation to £1,057.

Joan Gibbs, aged 97, said: “I had a lot of fun, especially watching the children see Santa. My favourite part of the day was enjoying mulled wine and a mince pie while listening to the Christmas carols with Santa. You’re never too old for Santa hugs.”
Stella Barnes, Home Manager at Foxbridge House, said: “Here at Foxbridge House, we’re always looking to support important causes, especially those that are close to the hearts of team members and residents.
“We strive to play an active role in our community, and we’re proud to be supporting Bromley Homeless. I want to thank everyone who helped with the fundraising efforts at our Christmas Fete, from coordinating the special event to those who kindly donated. The amount raised surpassed our expectations and it was great to be able to share that with Bromley Homeless.”
