Olympics: Family fanzone to open at London Aquatics Centre

Families from across London and beyond are invited to dive into summer sporting action as the London Aquatics Centre transforms into an official Aquatics GB fanzone for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Starting on Monday 29 July, visitors of all ages will have the extraordinary opportunity to experience the excitement of the Games without the trip to Paris.

For as little as £2 per person, families can watch live broadcasts of aquatic events featuring Team GB stars, and then make a splash themselves with a range of affordable activities in the very pools where Olympic history was made.

Everyone Active, which manages the centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in partnership with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), is hosting this unique opportunity.

Among the events to be screened are the men's synchronised 10m platform diving final, potentially featuring Tom Daley and Noah Williams, as well as swimming finals with possible appearances by British swimmers such as Duncan Scott, Matt Richards and Ben Proud.

The events will run on Monday 29 July Wednesday 31 July, Friday 2 August, Friday 9 August and Saturday 10 August, with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions available.

Alongside the Olympic broadcasts, the centre will offer family-friendly activities including inflatable pool sessions, public swimming and diving taster courses.

These activities are part of Everyone Active's annual "Everyone is Family" campaign which aims to encourage families to maintain a healthy lifestyle together. This summer's activities are inspired by the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics, offering families the chance to try various sports and activities together at an affordable price.

Mark Basker, Regional Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said: "We're thrilled to transform the London Aquatics Centre into an Olympic fanzone. It's a fantastic opportunity for people to experience the excitement of the Games and then dive into their own aquatic adventures right here in London.

“These events also support our Everyone is Family campaign, helping families stay active over the summer at an accessible price point."

The London Aquatics Centre has been a hub for both elite sport and community swimming since the 2012 London Olympics, attracting more than a million visits annually for community use and 'learn to swim' programmes.

Viewing tickets are priced at just £2 or £3 per person, with additional activities available from £2.

Everyone Active's partnership with LLDC began in March this year, continuing the legacy of the 2012 Olympics by providing world-class aquatic facilities to the community.
