Olivia Colman, Kate Alderton and Dr Becky Foljambe support Tim Arnold's Super Connected Petition

A growing movement to protect the public’s right to access essential services without being forced online has gained powerful new voices this week. Academy Award-winning actor Olivia Colman, campaigning GP Dr Becky Foljambe, actor and artist Kate Alderton and online safety campaigner Ellen Roome all appear in a new campaign video supporting the Super Connected Petition—a nationwide initiative that calls for the legal right to live without digital dependency.
The petition—titled “Provide a Legal Right to Access Certain Services Without a Digital Device” and dubbed ‘The Super Connected Petition’—asks the UK Government to ensure future-proof legislation that people who cannot or choose not to use digital technology are still able to access the services they need. It also addresses growing concern that digital-first policies are reshaping childhood, healthcare and education without adequate consideration of their long-term consequences.
“We can see the mounting evidence that being too connected to technology for too long periods of time when we’re too young is not good for our health,” says Dr Foljambe.
Also speaking in the campaign video is Kate Alderton, the theatre director behind Super Connected Live, the national touring indie-rock theatre show based on Tim Arnold’s Super Connected album and film. Alderton, one of the lead actors in the film, has adapted the work into a live experience that is inspiring families to think differently about their relationship to technology. The show holds a mirror up to our digitally dependent world, inviting audiences to reflect on the emotional and social cost of a life increasingly lived online.

Online safety campaigner Ellen Roome said "Super Connected is very powerful and demonstrates how we're all connected, just just children".
Super Connected has been described as “the drama that predicted the smartphone crisis.” It tells the story of a family navigating digital addiction in a hyperconnected world, echoing the real-life concerns voiced by professionals across education and healthcare. The show has toured theatres nationwide, combining cinematic visuals, original music and performance to create a shared space for conversation and reflection.
Signatures for the petition are being collected at Super Connected events across the UK, including Liverpool, Edinburgh and Swansea, with the next performance at The Phoenix Cinema, East Finchley, London on Friday, 26th September.
