Middlesex Freemasons support local charities at the Mayor’s Picnic in the Park

Middlesex Freemasons were delighted to support the Mayor of Hillingdon’s annual Picnic in the Park at Cowley Recreation Ground—an event celebrating local voluntary work and charitable support across the borough and donated £500 to local charities.

Children enjoyed Teddies for Loving Care (TLC charity) teddy bear balloons and a giant Connect Four game, while adults engaged with informative displays and literature on Freemasonry and how to get involved.

Alfie Buckland, Middlesex Freemasonry’s charity champion, praised the clarity and professionalism of the display, thanking the team for their efforts in promoting charitable initiatives.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the official presentation of two charitable donations—£250 each to SEND Family Support and the Hillingdon Stroke Support Group. The ceremonial cheques were handed over in the presence of the Mayor of Hillingdon and representatives of both charities.

SEND Family Support began as a local initiative for fathers of children with special educational needs and disabilities. It has grown into a broader organisation delivering inclusive clubs, workshops, and events both in-person and online to help families access support and enjoy social time together.

Hillingdon Stroke Support Group is a small, friendly network of stroke survivors offering weekly activities, speech and language support, and social opportunities across two venues in Uxbridge and Eastcote. Their mission is to expand their reach across the borough to assist more survivors and families.
