Middlesex Freemasons have raised more than £14,000 for CHAPS, a leading UK charity that promotes early detection of prostate cancer through PSA testing.

The fundraising campaign began back in July 2023, when Alfie Buckland appealed for support for a charity cycle ride from Exeter to Newquay, organised by Middlesex Freemasons in aid of CHAPS.

The ride honoured one of their members, who was recovering from prostate cancer after a free PSA test at a screening event.

By February 2025, the final fundraising total surpassed £14,000, being raised by Masonic Lodges in Middlesex and various individuals including Dean Mortimer, who was diagnosed early through a PSA test at a Middlesex Freemasons event. His experience highlighted the life-saving potential of early detection, and he raised significant funds in gratitude.

“CHAPS is working toward a national programme where PSA testing becomes routine for men, just as breast screening is for women,” said Alfie Buckland. “We’re proud that Middlesex Freemasons have played a role in supporting this vital cause.”

Middlesex Freemasons remain committed to promoting men’s health and supporting CHAPS’ mission—saving lives through early detection.
