Children from schools in Maidstone area carve huge displays of pumpkins as part of Bellway Hallowe'en competition
Dozens of pumpkins were donated to two schools in the Maidstone area so that the children could take part in a Hallowe'en pumpkin carving competition organised by homebuilder Bellway.
The company, which is building homes at Parsonage Place in Otham and Aviation Park in Kings Hill, purchased 90 pumpkins for Senacre Wood Primary School in Maidstone and Kings Hill School, in Kings Hill.
The children took part in the pumpkin carving competitions last week and the finished carved pumpkins were put on display at the two housing developments in time for Halloween events there this Thursday.
Helen Clarkson, Art Teacher at Senacre Wood Primary school, said: "The children absolutely loved being able to take part in the pumpkin carving competition which they did outside with our Forest School teacher, Mrs Reeves.

“They learnt new skills, such as designing the pumpkins and using the tools safely and worked collaboratively to make and display our pumpkins. Thank you very much to Bellway Homes for giving us the opportunity to contribute to their display."
Mark Harrop, Sales Director for Bellway Kent, said: “We were very happy with all the great pumpkins that the pupils carved. The children were very creative with their ideas and the pumpkins are providing great Halloween displays at Parsonage Place and Aviation Park this week.
“Making links with local schools and strengthening relationships with the wider neighbourhood is a very important part of what we do – it’s all part of building a well-connected community.”
Bellway is hosting Hallowe'en events at Parsonage Place and Aviation Park on Thursday, October 31 from 4pm to 7pm. They will feature hot dogs, popcorn and cauldrons filled with small bags of sweets and lollipops. There will also be Halloween-themed games and a fancy-dress competition.
Senacre Wood Primary School was given 30 pumpkins for the Year 3 class. The pumpkins are now on display at Parsonage Place.
Kings Hill School received 60 pumpkins for the Year 5 group. These pumpkins are on show at Aviation Park.
At Aviation Park, Bellway is building homes at three developments – Blenheim Green, Liberty Quarter and DeHavilland Place.
