Can you beat the clock? Brighton and Hove Triathlon is back for its ninth year on August 31, and with thousands expected to enter, places won’t last long.

As the largest closed-road triathlon in the south-east, this spectacular event welcomes competitors of all ages and abilities, from first-timers to experienced athletes chasing a new personal best. Set against the stunning Brighton and Hove seafront, this is a race you’ll never forget.

The course is designed for both speed and spectacle. The swim takes place in the sea adjacent to Hove Lawns, leading into a thrilling closed-road cycle on Kings Road before finishing with a flat, fast run along the promenade. Whether you’re aiming for the podium or simply taking on a new challenge, Brighton and Hove Triathlon is an event that will stay with you long after you cross the finish line.

The event has built a reputation as one of the UK’s best for beginners, with 220 Triathlon Magazine recognising it as an ideal race for newcomers. Every year, thousands of spectators line the seafront, creating an electric atmosphere that carries athletes through every stroke, pedal, and stride.

Alongside the racing, the event village on Hove Lawns will be buzzing with excitement across the weekend. Athletes, supporters, and sports enthusiasts will come together to enjoy live entertainment, delicious food, and an exhibition showcasing the latest triathlon gear and technology. Competitors are encouraged to visit on Saturday for registration and bike racking, but there’s also an option to check in on race morning for those unable to attend the day before.

Brighton and Hove Triathlon is more than just a race, it’s a milestone, a personal challenge, and an experience that stays with you. Athletes love the support from volunteers and spectators alike, with one competitor saying, “The marshals and aid station helpers were fantastic – so encouraging and helpful! The run along the seafront had so much public support, and the whole experience was brilliant.”

Macmillan Cancer Support is the official charity partner of the event, and each year, tens of thousands of pounds are raised to support those affected by cancer.

Race Director Dale Anderton expressed his gratitude for the incredible support that makes Brighton and Hove Triathlon such a success every year. “We wouldn’t be able to host these events without the backing of our partners, local businesses, sponsors, and of course, our amazing volunteers. Their dedication and energy are what truly make this race special.”

Even if you’re not racing, you can be part of the action by volunteering. One past volunteer described the experience: “There’s nothing quite like it. Seeing athletes push through their limits and knowing you played a part in their journey is incredibly rewarding.”

Volunteering is an incredible way to get involved. All helpers receive a £25 race credit for every four hours worked, as well as a TriBourne race shirt, water bottle, a hot meal, and the knowledge that they’ve helped make the event possible. To sign up, email [email protected] and be part of something incredible.
