In a bold and empowering decision, Nair has declined a book deal from HarperCollins, choosing instead to self-publish, further cementing her reputation as a fiercely independent and innovative voice in contemporary literature.
Unravelling tells the story of Bhanu, a woman who appears to have it all: a loving husband, wonderful children, and a beautiful home. As she prepares to celebrate her 40th wedding anniversary, her world is turned upside down when her first love, Deep, re-enters her life with a startling proposition: to leave everything behind and start anew with him.

"I wanted to explore the gap between the curated lives we present to the world and what is truly happening beneath the surface," said Nair.
"Bhanu’s story is a universal tale of love, regret, and the pursuit of genuine happiness. Rejecting HarperCollins was a tough choice, but I felt it was crucial to maintain creative control over this deeply personal story. It's important to show that it's never too late to start anew, and at any moment, one can step into a new narrative."
Preethi Nair first won readers' hearts with her debut novel, Gypsy Masala, which she self-published, breaking into the book charts by creating an alter-ego publicist, Pru. Pru was shortlisted for the Publicist of the Year at the PPC awards, and Nair subsequently signed a three-book deal with HarperCollins.
