Afrikindness and Winners Chapel International Leeds hosted a transformative safeguarding workshop, bringing together over 110 parents, 30 children, and faith leaders to address cultural barriers and empower families with essential safeguarding knowledge.

This impactful event focused on empowering African communities with practical safeguarding knowledge and addressing cultural barriers to create safer environments for children.

Supported by the National Lottery Community Fund and organized in collaboration with Voluntary Action Leeds, the workshop highlighted the collective responsibility of families, faith communities, and civic institutions to protect vulnerable individuals.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung, delivered an inspiring keynote speech, stating:"Safeguarding children goes beyond the walls of our homes. Faith communities must unite with families and institutions to build a powerful network that ensures no child is left unsupported."

The event also included facilitated discussions led by the Lord Mayor, focusing on the pivotal role of faith leaders in safeguarding and overcoming cultural stigmas.
