Spectacular drone light show ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ lights up London this Christmas

Families across north London are in for a festive treat this December as over 600 LED drones take to the skies above Copthall Fields in Mill Hill for a brand-new adaptation of the Rankin/Bass classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Produced by Lumina Drones—the creative team behind the acclaimed Space Safari series—the one-night-only event on Saturday 13 December will project a choreographed aerial performance set to an original cinematic score.
Viewers can expect larger-than-life silhouettes of Rudolph, the Abominable Snow Monster and even Santa Claus, all animated against the winter sky with sweeping narration to guide audiences through the timeless tale.
First broadcast in the United States in 1964, Rudolph has not been shown on UK screens since 2005. Lumina Drones’ immersive reimagining aims to reconnect a new generation with the story’s themes of acceptance and celebrating difference, all while offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fireworks displays.

Ahead of the main drone spectacle, Copthall Fields will transform into a festive village complete with fairground rides, Santa’s Grotto, gaming stalls, face painting and an array of food vendors serving seasonal treats and hot drinks.
Organisers say the dog-friendly environment will ensure everyone, including four-legged friends, can join in the celebration without worrying about loud bangs or wildlife disturbance.
Lumina Drones is one of only two companies worldwide specialising in large-scale drone-theatre productions. Their mission is to revolutionise live entertainment by combining sustainability with storytelling, using silent, low-emission drone swarms in place of fireworks.
Tickets for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Drone Light Show go on sale on Friday, August 29, with early-bird prices starting from £15.99.
