Nicholson’s Pub Collection reopens The York following major refurbishment

Until the late 18th century, the site of The York was open fields and part of a farm, and in 1838 the premises of The York was a private house belonging to the Pullen and Rhodes families, where dairy cows once grazed up to the back door. The house was first established as “The York Hotel” in 1851, thus named as it sat on a major road for northern stage coaches running out of London. It was rebuilt in 1872 and since then has been known only as “The York”

The York has recently been refurbished keeping many of the traditional features, including the beautiful curved wooden bar and overbar gold coloured cornices, whilst also refreshing the high ceilings, wooden wall panels and flooring. The York has also kept all of the hallmarks of the Nicholsons brand, including continuing to serve a traditional British pub menu alongside quality cask and craft ales. Guests will also be able to enjoy both Sky and TNT Sports as well as regular live music events.

Inside the pub, guests can continue to enjoy everything you’d expect to find on a respectable British pub menu including hand battered fish and chips, award winning pies, and a lunch deal too, there’s a selection of food that’s perfectly suited to every appetite.

Along with the food menu, guests will also be greeted with an extensive drinks menu, boasting a wide selection of gin options and cask, craft beers and world lagers,.

Speaking about the refurbishment, Claire, the general manager said: “We’re all really buzzing with the new look and layout. All of the team and myself can’t wait to welcome our previous guests back and meet lots of new guests too. We’re sure that they’ll love it as much as we do!!”

Following the extensive refurbishment and significant investment made at the pub, the team is so excited to pour pints and serve high-quality, delicious food to guests.
