Kane left for Bayern Munich this summer with Spurs getting almost £100million but they are being careful on who they decide to spend the cash on with Brazilian Richarlison tasked with stepping up to the main striker role.

Brennan Johnson attracted praise from Pep Gaurdioal last season where he described him as ‘brilliant’ after Steve Cooper’s side held his team to a 1-1 draw at the City Ground.

Tottenham have started life well under new manager Ange Postecoglou with an impressive draw against Brentford before building on that win a win against Manchester United.

The new Spurs boss has been big on calling on the fans to help his team out as they try to return the club to playing a style of football that Spurs fans adore.

Postecoglou admitted the fans helped his team in their 2-0 win over Manchester United: “The support was outstanding, right from the first whistle the crowd were outstanding.

“They carried us through the first half because we were nervy. ... We’re showing bits of our game today. I saw enough that encourages me.”

The Lilywhites will now travel to Bournemouth for their third game of the campaign this weekend hoping to continue from where they left of against Manchester United.

They will hope to have James Maddison who left the game with a protected boot despite a massive role in the win.
