New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newham’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

Al Khalifa, at 35 Balaam Street, Plaistow, London was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on September 14.

And Thai Pie, at 200 The Grove, Stratford, London was also given a score of five on September 7.

It means that of Newham's 575 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 321 (56%) have ratings of five and just three have zero ratings.
