Londoners may want to get their suncream out this week as the capital is set to get a taste of summer early through an expected "mini heatwave". According to the Met Office, temperatures in the city could peak as high as 21°C, with the warm weather likely to continue into next week.

The sun will shine down on London's famous skyline this week as temperatures get closer to 20°C across the city. Next week is set to continue the warmer weather, with Monday forecasted to have a high of 21°C.

As explained by the Met Office, a heat wave describes an extended period of hot weather which is warmer than the expected temperatures of a particular place or type of year. According to London Perfect, the average temperature in the city during May is usually around 18°C.

The expected warmer weather follows the 'soft heatwave' that was predicted to hit the UK last month (April). Now it appears London could face its first mini heatwave if the sun continues to shine down on the city.

So, what's the weather looking like in London for the next week? Here’s the five day Met Office forecast.
