The 2022 London Book Fair is almost upon us, and is back in the real world after the Covid-19 pandemic caused the annual event to be moved online.

But this year, the book fair is back in person for the first time since 2019, with a whole host of authors and novelists heading to the popular event.

With over 300 speakers, and around 100 events covering a plethora of different subjects in the industry, this really is the place to be in this sector.

What is the London Book Fair?

The London Book Fair is a large book-publishing trade fair that is usually held annually and is essentially a global marketplace for story creators and more.

Publishers, deal makers, copyright holders, commissioners and global licensors all meet up under one roof to learn, network and kick off their year in business, and is regarded as a great networking opportunity.

Around 20,000 publishing professionals attend the event annually, in what the London Book Fair official website labels as a “defining moment for the publishing community”.

When is the London Book Fair and where is it held?

This year, the London Book Fair is held over three days, and begins on Tuesday, April 5 and ends on Thursday, April 7. Each day the doors will open at 9:30am and close at 6pm.

The venue where the fair is held is Olympia London in Hammersmith road, Kensington. The full address is: Hammersmith Road, Kensington, London, W14 8UX.

Olympia London holds many events, including the London Book Fair. Other events to be held here include live music events such as The Foals, The Media Production and Television Show, The Fertility Show, A Place In The Sun live and more.

What events are being held on the main stage?

Over the course of the three days, there will be 15 events taking place on the main stage. There will be seven events on Tuesday and Wednesday with just the solitary event taking place on Thursday.

The first event is an international press briefing with Andy Ventris, director of the London Book Fair, followed by events that look at life for the publishing industry after Covid-19, the role of publishing and culture during global conflict and more. Which authors will be present?

The full line-up of all authors present at the event has been announced.

Over 20 authors from different backgrounds and genres will be attending the book fair.

These include: Maggie O’Farrell, Children’s Authors of the Day Greg James and Chris Smith, and Market Focus Author of the Day Afra Atiq.

Also in attendance will be Illustrator of the Fair Diane Ewen – and will be joined on the 2022 seminar programme by acclaimed bestsellers, award-winning novelists and poets, and emerging new talents, making for an exciting and esteemed lineup.
