On what was London’s hottest days of the summer so far, a Christmas themed bar with air con was a surprising delight.

Christmas has landed rather early in the capital this year. Although is it really too soon with only 21 Fridays left until the big day?

DesignMyNight has brought the festive vibes to London for the summer with its Mistletoe Mixer pop up bar. Wreath it and weep all of you humbugs!

While a Christmas bar may not be your typical spot to spend a summers evening, there's snow time like the present to get into the festive spirit.

Set in a the luxe cocktail bar Merchant House near Bank, you’ll have to head to the spot’s loos to find the Christmas wonderland.

Behind a restroom facade, festive fans will be able to step into Christmas through a secret door where you’ll discover the retro kitsch Crimbo bar of your dreams.

Yule really feel like you’re back home for Christmas as you’re greeted with festive tunes and nostalgic decor. The paper chains and cards hung up by string also add a homely touch. (Ps. The cards actually have cute messages in them if you’re nosy like me!)

Every inch of the bar has been decorated from ornament cladded garland’s across the ceiling to bows and stars adorning every wall. There’s even a piano with vintage sheet music on top.

The main event is ofcourse the tree which was adorned with many a bow and draped with glittering foils.

Festive vibes are also echoed in the bar’s menu featuring four crimbo themed cocktails including the Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, Grinch and Christmas Story.

I really enjoyed the Home Alone which is a coffee eggnog style drink and the apple rum Grinch cocktails in particular and while the drinks were strong Christmas is all about treating yo'elf right!

While sipping on your themed beverages and taking in your festive surroundings, there are also a few vintage board games for guests to enjoy from Monopoly to Scrabble. Although as the experience is only 90 mins long you may not have time to complete a whole game of Monopoly!

With London having reached a sizzling 30 degrees this week, I was certainly grateful for the air con blasting especially as the bar is an intimate 12 seater space.

Mistletoe Mixer will be available for Christmas fans to swing by from tonight (August 1) and will be open for just two weeks until August 17. You can book a visit on the DesignMyNight website where tickets are £35.
