Islington’s John Ryder will fight Zach Parker on Saturday night, with the Interim WBO World Super Middleweight title on the line. The fight will take place at the O2 Arena and the winner could book a clash with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in 2023.

The event will start at 7pm on Saturday, with the undercard fights being shown first. They will be Sam Noakes vs Calvin McCord; Dennis McCann vs Joe Ham and Hamzah Sheeraz vs River Wilson-Bent. The ring walks for the main event are expected to take place at 10pm, depending on how long the preliminary bouts are.

John Ryder’s last outing saw him take a razor-thin decision victory over Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs. Despite having a reach disadvantage, Ryder was able to routinely get on the inside and outwork the American to scrape a win on the judges’ scorecards.

Meanwhile, the undefeated Zach Parker knocked out Marcus Morrison in his last fight. Parker comfortably outclassed his opponent, dropping him twice in the second round before referee Bob Williams called a halt to the contest in round four.

On paper, Parker appears to have a better record than Ryder. He has never lost a professional bout, winning all 22 of his fights with 16 knockouts.

Ryder, however, has fought far stiffer competition over the course of his career, including Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders and Andrey Sirotkin. The Gorilla’s record stands at 31 wins (17 by knockout), five losses (one by knockout) and no draws.
