West Ham are set to welcome lower league opposition in the Carabao Cup as they host Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the third round. West Ham v Blackburn used to be a regular fixture in the Premier League before Rovers were relegated in 2012.

It wasn’t too long ago that Blackburn were challenging for the European spots. They were relegated 10 years ago and never returned, even playing league one for a brief period.

Meanwhile, West Ham are reeling from a devastating loss at the weekend. They lost with virtually the last kick of the game, as Michael Olise stole all three points for Crystal Palace.

After this fixture, West Ham only has one more match to play between now and Boxing Day. The Premier League, Championship and multiple European leagues will have a long, six week break due to the World Cup.

Whilst West Ham will be hurting, Blackburn will be buzzing after they won at the weekend. A single goal from Ben Brereton Diaz saw them edge past relegation-threatened Huddersfield, putting them into second place.

When does West Ham v Blackburn kick off?

The game between West Ham and Blackburn is set to kick off at 7:45pm on Wednesday, November 9. The game will be played at the London Stadium, home of The Hammers since 2016.

Despite not being played during the 3pm blackout on a Saturday, which prohibits live games being televised during a certain window, the game is not on TV. It is very rare that Carabao Cup games are televised, with Sky Sports airing just one game in the competition this round.

How to watch highlights of the Carabao Cup

Although games are not being televised, aside from Chelsea v Manchester City, there’s still a chance to to watch comprehensive highlights of Nottingham Forest v Spurs. ITV will show a highlights show. The highlights show was introduced this season, and will be broadcasted on on Thursday at midnight, lasting just over an hour.
