West Ham receive positive injury boost ahead of Silkeborg clash

Latest West Ham team news

West Ham boss David Moyes has said Maxwel Cornet is fit to play this evening.

The summer recruit was substituted off in the last game against FCSB after picking up a knock.

However, he is available again and is in contention to face Silkeborg.

‘Fine’...

His manager has said, as per the club’s official website:

“Maxi was fine. It was actually that he felt it more in his neck, so it wasn’t actually his head he got it.

“It was more that he landed and hurt his neck a little bit, so Maxi has been fine, he’s been training.”

West Ham swooped to sign Cornet in early August on a five-year contract from Burnley.

The former Metz and Lyon scored nine goals in 28 games for the Clarets last term and impressed despite their relegation to the Championship.

He adds useful competition and depth into the Hammers squad and will be eager to score his first goal for the London club.

In other injury news, Moyes is without long-term absentee Nayef Aguerd and full-back Ben Johnson for tonight’s clash in Denmark.

Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell are part of the travelling squad as well but it is yet to be known whether they will be risked on the artificial pitch.

West Ham beat FCSB 3-1 in their last Europa Conference League clash so will be in the hunt for back-to-back wins.

They return to Premier League action this weekend against Everton away.
