West Ham United are reportedly going to make another bid for Club Brugge skipper Hans Vanaken.

The Hammers still want to land the midfielder, despite closing in on the signing of Lucas Paqueta from Lyon.

Vanaken, 30, still has a few years left on his contract with his current club.

However, David Moyes is trying to lure him over to London and his side are ‘poised’ to make a third offer for him, as per a report by the Daily Mail.

As well as Paqueta?

Vanaken would give West Ham more competition and depth in the middle of the park.

They have already brought in seven new faces this summer and him, along with Paqueta who is on the ‘brink’ of joining as per BBC Sport, would take the tally up to nine if they both secure moves before the end of the transfer window.

The Hammers are in Europe again and have obviously addressed the need to add more bodies into their squad to deal with the sheer mass of games coming their way.

Club Brugge are holding firm at the moment though and having already rebuffed two bids, it will be interesting to see how long they can hold out for.

Vanaken has played for the Belgian giants since 2015, having previously been on the books at Lommel United and Lokeren.

He has made 339 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with 101 goals, helping them win the five times.

In other West Ham news, Moyes is pleased to have seen his side beat Aston Villa and said, as per their club website:

“I think it’s got even more competitive this season but for us, at this time, it was a really important three points for us.

We earned the right to play in the second half by working hard in the first half and staying in the game. I said to the players at half-time ‘We’re nil-nil, so you’ve got a great chance now’ and we had to take it and do better and we did.”
