West Ham are reportedly keen on signing free agent Dan-Axel Zagadou.

The Hammers could see the former France youth international as someone to bolster their defensive department.

Zagadou, 23, remains available as a free agent following his exit from Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season and continues to weigh up his next move in the game.

According to RMC reporter Fabrice Hawkins on Twitter, David Moyes’ side are in ‘pole position’ to snap him up now with Lyon also in the frame (see tweet below):

Potential West Ham addition?

Zagadou has spent the past few years on the books at Dortmund and a move to England would be a new challenge for him.

The 6ft 5inc centre-back started out with local side Créteil before linking up with PSG.

He then rose up through the academy of the Ligue 1 giants before moving to Germany in 2017.

Zagadou initially played for Dortmund’s second team before breaking into their first-team and went on to make 92 senior appearances.

With Craig Dawson’s contract at West Ham expiring next summer, the London outfit could see him as a decent long-term option for them at the back.

Other news

In other Hammers news, Jayden Fevrier is on trial with League Two club Colchester United, as per the Gazette.

He was released at the end of the last campaign and will be hoping to earn a new contract now with the U’s.
