The Lille-based youngster Sven Botman has expressed a desire to leave his current club this summer with interest piling up from Premier League clubs.

Newcastle and AC Milan were the first to show interest in the 22-year-old in January but David Moyes’ West Ham is now the next to join the party as Moyes aims to ‘overhaul’ his squad this summer, per reports.

West Ham are on the fringe of Europa League and Champions League entries for next season and will be hoping to bolster their squad in the summer ahead of these potential fixtures.

Last season, Botman started all except one of Lille’s Ligue 1 matches as they took the League title ahead of Paris-Saint Germain.

The Dutch international would be the ideal left-sided centre-back that Moyes would wish for and is reportedly one of a number of defenders being monitored by the London side ahead of the summer transfer window.

Speaking in a recent interview with Standard Sport, the former Manchester United manager has said: “I see new players, I see a stronger squad, I see a change of the guard in some places because of what’s happening at the club. But that will be normal. We do have to make changes in the summer, we do need to look at how to move forward again.”

Who else is interested in Sven Botman?

The young Dutchman has previously had strong interest from Newcastle and AC Milan. If West Ham are seriously interested in signing Botman, they will have to fend off extreme competition from these two sides.

Back in January, Newcastle had not been ruled out by Botman when discussing his options, and it remains to be seen whether he would prefer to go to the North-East rather than fight away from Champions League and Europa League positions with West Ham.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, after Newcastle offered £50million for the Dutchman, as reported by the Chronicle live, the 22-year-old defender said: “Everyone says about Newcastle - it’s all about money.

“But it’s a very nice project, if you look at where Man City and PSG started. I think it would be very nice to be part of that, but Milan is a beautiful club.”

When asked about a possible move to the North of England, Botman said: “I’m fine at Lille for the time being.

“I assume that I will take a good step in my career next summer. You never know in football. This time both Newcastle and Milan were in very concrete talks. Both clubs have their positive points.”

Who else does David Moyes have his eye on?

Moyes has seen over terrific form to West Ham since his return to the club. The transfer additions of Kurt Zouma, Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek have been phenomenally successful and with the possibility of Declan Rice leaving, Moyes will be keen to continue improving his squad.

Moyes will be keen to sign a striker and The Evening Standard suggest that West Ham may put in yet another bid for Benfica’s Darwin Nunez despite the London side having a £50million bid rejected in January.

Mark Noble is set to retire at the end of the season while Alex Kral may well return to Spartak Moscow.

Therefore, Moyes will be keen to have a busy summer transfer season if he is to avoid leading his club into a stale patch after such success in the past two years.
