West Ham defender Craig Dawson is still facing an uncertain future amid links to Wolves. The centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season.

According to Sky Sports (live transfer blog, 16.01.23, 14.50), Julen Lopetegui’s side are ‘hopeful’ of striking a deal for him before the end of the transfer window. In addition, the player is believed to be ‘keen’ on the move back up north.

Dawson, 32, wasn’t in West Ham’s squad over the weekend as they lost 1-0 to Wolves. The Hammers risk losing him for free in the summer unless they cash in on him this winter or can agree terms of a new deal.

The former England youth international has played for the London club since 2020 when he initially joined on loan from Watford. He has since proved to be a useful player for David Moyes and has made 87 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with nine goals from the back.

Dawson injects useful experience into the ranks and losing him would be a blow, especially as West Ham currently find themselves in the drop zone. He has also played for the likes of Rochdale, West Brom and Bolton Wanderers in the past.

Time will tell whether Wolves will be able to lure him to Molinuex over the next couple of weeks. In other news, talkSPORT suggest Everton are interested in Michail Antonio after he was linked with Chelsea last week.
